The 7 Day Challenge: Day 4
Times are tough. You have
no income at the time. You have lost some critical utilities and are having to
cut back on certain items. It’s also the weekend, you’ve had a rough week
and want to do something fun with your family or your friends.
·
For this day, and ALL days of the challenge: no spending money,
no going to stores, and no restaurants.
·
Your water got shut off because you couldn’t pay your bill last
month (remember toilets use 1 1/2-3 gallons of your stored water PER FLUSH)
·
You no longer have cable, internet (except for the challenge),
or cell phones due to lack of money
·
You ran out of bread, need some, and can’t afford store bought –
Task for the day
·
YES today is the day you have to actually try making bread
·
You can’t participate in activities that are paid for
·
Do a fun activity with your family, or with your friends that
costs no money outside of the home
Tips for the Day -
1. Shop from your Food Storage:
* A novice mistake when starting food storage is to purchase large quantities of staples, like wheat and oatmeal. For most of us cooking with the bare basics is difficult. Save yourself stress and stock up on non perishable version of those things you normally cook for dinner. Pick 5 or even 10 recipes that you are already eating ...enough to make these family favorites, says Tim Pedersen, a storage advisor at Emergency Essentials
For example...
FoolProof Whole Wheat Bread
submitted by Vera Winn
2 Tbsp yeast in 1/2 c. warm water
5 c. hot water from tap
7 c. unsifted whole wheat flour
2/3 c. honey or molasses
