The night was full and so much fun to be with sisters and friends.
Also a huge thank-you to our dessert makers, and kitchen angels! Phyllis Griffiths, Kay Lee, Sonja Beere, Kathryn Stewart, and Syd Stoddard for making a wonderful "winter dessert"!
We had so many requests for the recipe here it is:
Best Ever Apple Cake
2 cups sugar
1/2 c. soft butter
2 eggs
4 large unpeeled grated apples
2 cups flour
2 t. baking soda
2 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
1/2 t. salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Cream Butter, gradually add sugar, eggs, apples then dry ingredients. Grease a 9"X13" cake pan, and pour batter in. Bake at 350* for 45 min. (toothpick inserted should come out dry)
Hot Butter Sauce (to pour over each individual piece of cake)
1 cup each of butter, sugar, and light cream
Cook over low heat 10-15 min. constantly stirring until lightly thickened. When finished add 1 tsp. vanilla, and a dash of nutmeg.
